COVID-19 looks far from over, months after it was discovered in Wuhan, China. Now considered a pandemic, the coronavirus is crippling businesses and life as we knew it. In many countries, there are lockdowns, and these are among the times when everyone wishes they had a survival garden.
While movement is not entirely restricted, the best thing to do is to stay at home; but for many, this is not an option because of lack of supplies. But for those who already have survival gardens, they can stay at home and rely on the various species already growing.
In most countries, governments have imposed total lockdowns, and this implies no movement whatsoever is allowed. That means residents have to put up with the little supplies they had in stock. Still, the situation gets worse immediately they are depleted. With a survival garden, at least the plant foods can sustain you and your family.
And it’s not just about the curfews and restrictions on movement. Many retailers have hiked prices of commodities as demand surges. With your survival garden, you can at least cushion your pocket by eating survival plant foods instead of falling for the exploitation by traders.
While your garden will be a saviour at this time, it’s essential also to replenish the land and where you have harvested, as we don’t know when this pandemic will last. But so far, there are hopes for a vaccine or cure though this may take several months before a viable solution comes along.
